Can I get some tips from some vet con goers??????????????????????

I had a thought today after reading a few SU theories about what might be happen if Stevie is ever badly injured enough he'd need to regenerate.
God forbid that ever happens, but this is my thought.
Because Steven is half human, he can't just poof like the Gems do because he is organic, while they're just solidified beings of light pretty much.
So, maybe, instead of him retreating into his gem, what if the gem comes out? What if it wraps him in a protective cocoon similar to his shield where he can sleep until he's fully healed? This way, the human half of him, which would probably be more injured then his gem half, is given the time it need to heal while the gem half, his mother's half, protects him.
